We think my great grandfather came from Limerick to London in around 1850.

We think he was born 1840 - 1844 (Info from census' and his death certificate are a little unclear.)

He has an unusual middle name which is Hartwell.

We have not found his mother or father so do not know if he left Ireland with them, or who accompanied him. He was a bootmaker and we assume his father was a bootmaker.

He married a Suffolk girl in London. We assume he was protestant as they married in the local Church of England parish church

I checked the Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie indexes for possible baptismal records. There were seven James Maguire baptismal records from 1839-1845 in Co. Limerick. I went thru the C of I parishes and at least one of the seven records was for in a C of I church. There was an 1842 record for a James Maguire in the Kilfergus/Glin C of I church.

Roots is a pay site to see a transcription of a church record. Roots now requires that you get a subscription to see their transcriptions.
