  • Hi Mark,

My 2nd great grandmother is Catherine Claire Riordan. She was born 1824 to James Riordan and Mary Cleary. One of her brothers was the James Riordan you speak of born in 1827.

Catherine came the the USA in 1850 with sister Maria and John. Catherine married and became a Pomeroy. Maria became a Morgan and John married, but I am unable to find out who he married.

The house that James Riordan b. 1783 d. 1886, lived in is still there. A two story stone home.

My mother visited Ireland in the late 70s and was able to meet a few Riordans and visit my 3rd great grandfathers grave.

  • Hi Michaels

thanks for your response! Sorry about the delay in my response. I have a Church Baptism record from www.rootsireland.ie that says My James was born and/or baptised on 18 Sept 1827 to James Riordan & Mary Clancy. The witnesses though were John Cleary & Mary Cleary. I think you are probably right and that Clancy is a transription error.

I would appriciate any info you can give me about the family.
