I am a descendant of Patrick Carmody born in Kilfinny, Co. Limerick in 1836, son Michael Carmody and Mary Maloney. Patrick has a huge number of descendants in Australia where he emigrated in the late1850's and married Mary Cawley, a young woman from Co. Sligo, in Brisbane,1863. Descendants of Patrick and Mary will be holding a family reunion in October this year to mark the 150th anniversary of their marriage. Patrick also had 2 sisters who came to Australia (that we know of) - Mary (m. Stephen Ryan) and Margaret (m. Denis Devaney). I do not know which siblings (if any) stayed in Ireland but I would be thrill if I could make contact with any of their descendants or other relatives. My husband and I are coming to Ireland and plan to spend a month in Co Limerick, close to Kilfinny and Pallas Grean (where his O'Brien family came from). We are keen to meet anyone who has knowledge of the history or the area and of course, more particularly, any connection with the Carmody or O'Brien families. Heres hoping!!

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
I have passed it on to one of our volunteers who hopefully may be able to assist or advise you.
I am delighted to hear that you are planning a visit to Limerick! We have recently added a link to the top of our page for people who are visiting in 2013, it takes you to a short web form. We would greatly appreciated it if you could take a couple of minutes to fill it out.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
