My great great grandfather, Charles Guinea was born in the parish of Dromcolliher and Broadford in 1842. He joined the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1859 and settled in Wales in 1864. His baptism record tells me that his father was also named Charles, his mother, Johanna Cullinane (my late father told me that they were very young when he was born).  Sponsors were John Guinea and Mary Cullinane.  I am having difficulty finding records prior to this.  Can anyone shed any light on this?  Many thanks.  Kathryn

  • Kathryn:

RC records for Drumcolliher parish start in 1830 which explains why you can't locate records for Charles Sr. and Johanna.
