Two of my great grandparents were Ryan's who met & maried in Melbourne. No one in the family knows the family 'nicknames'

My great grandfather John Ryan b; 1857 and 2 brothers Thomas b: 1863 & Patrick b: 1860 came to Victoria Australia. Through my searching I have found 7children born to John & Julia Ryan in Doon.  Thomas 1847, Michael 1850, William 1852, Julia 1855,  & then John Patrick & thomas as above.  In records I have found in Australia it has been state that John Ryan my great great grandfather was a 'shopkeeper' & 'hotel keeper'. So I presume they lived in the town of Doon?

I also found 3 other children with parents of the same name Mary b:1841, Patrick b:1843 & Ellen b:1844 in Carrigbeg, Parish of Doon - not sure that these connect at all.

Any information & connections would be helpful to work which Ryan's are my Ryan's

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I took a quick look at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Doon parish in Limerick and there were many Ryans listed including 27 John Ryans,.Two of the Johns appear to live in Doon town.

I think it will be very difficult to determine the correct connections. Here is the parish register which may be helpful http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0260

Perhaps autosomal DNA testing might be helpful in your research.
