My ancestors are James and Ellen (nee Halpin) Leary, I am aware of one sibling James Leary Jnr who was ca 1811 in Cappagh, County of Limerick. James Leary Jnr enlisted in the East Indian Company on the 12th Sept 1826 at Ratheale, County of Limerick as a private in the Bombay Infantry. James was discharged on the 6th May 1848 after serving 21 years and 7 months. James left India on the 4th Sept 1848 and was granted a pension on the 6th Sept 1848. It is not known the location where James returned too and/or what he did until the 12th July 1851 when James Leary, Luke Finn and John Kennedy (whom all served together) along with their wivies (Elizabeth Leary, Catherine Finn and Mary Kennedy all nee Maloney and were sisters, whom I believe were all married in Cork, Ireland just prior leaving Ireland) boarded the "BLENHEIM 4" and arrived in Hobart Town, Tasmania on the 31st Oct 1851, James Leary, Luke Finn and John Kennedy all served aboard the Blenheim 4 as convict guards. Upon arriving in Hobart Town, James and Elizabeth had 6 children. Elizabeth Leary died 9th Sept 1866 and James Leary Jnr died 17th April 1869 at the General Hospital Hobart of Tuberculosis. I am looking for any information about James and Ellen (nee Halpin) Leary including any other siblings.
