Any information about family of Michael McCarthy & wife Eliza (Reidy) who migrated to Sydney, Australia 1838/39, with children Mary 13, Thomas 12, Cath 9, Ellen 6.

Have found baptisms in Kilcornan 1825 of Hellen & Maria (Mary),parents Michael & Eliza (Reidy) McCarthy. Mary fits in, but know nothing about Hellen.

Michael's parents :John McCarthy & wife Ellen Warn? , Eliza's parents Thomas Reidy & wife Ellen, nothing more.

The family were Bounty passengers on "Aliquis".

Any help appreciated.

  • Hi John

That is interesting the marriage of Johanna Ward & Thomas Reidy. Thomas could well be a younger

brother of Elizabeth. Pity we can't find the marriage of Michael McCarthy & Elizabeth Reidy, they were

certainly around the same area as the baptisms were in Kilcornan.

I am wondering if the maiden name of mother of Michael McCarthy on the 1839 "Aliquis" shipping list  could well have been "Ward", as no one can decipher it exactly.

    Thanks John

I don't seem to get answers like you can with Roots Ireland etc.
