I was trying to do some research on my greatgrandfather and his parents. I'am also a little confused on the right parish. On my great grandfathers civil birth record it states that the parish/district is the Carrigallen civil registration but on his baptism records it shows Aughavas Roman Catholic, Corriga. Here is the info on my great grandfather:
Patrick Machugh b. June 1 1882 d. 1938 in NYC
Parents: Patrick Machugh and Ann Conway, married 1877 at Aughavs Roman Catholic
he had 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
My Great grandfather left Ireland in 1909 on the Saxonia and departed to Boston, Mass
He married Mary O;Rourke in 1912 in NYC
Thanks for the help.

Your family lived in Corriga townland, Cllone civil parish which is just to the west of Carrigallen civil parish.
The 1901 and 1911 census records are below. For some reason, Patrick and Anne significantly understated their ages in the 1901 census. Anne would have been 9 or 10 at her marriage if we believed the 33 in the 1901 census.
Catholic parishes more often than not do not match up with the civil parishes. Here is a map of the catholic parishes in Leitrim. http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/MAPS/let_rcpar.html and here is the civil parish map. http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/MAPS/let_par.html
Let me know if you have any questions.

Roger,
I do have another question. Do you know how to find burial records. I was also wondering how do you find out what church my family belonged to. My family and I are planning a trip to Ireland next year and I really would like to visit the place my family is from. I'm trying to get as much information that I can so I know where to plan my trip. Thanks so much.

Lisa:
The church in Aughavas is St. Joseph. See the link below which will give you more info on the area.
