Hello again!
I believe the townland was Ballylynan in Killabban civil parish. I looked at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killabban civil parish and there were a number of Ryans but there was a Patrick Ryan in Ballylynan. Possibly this is the father of Michael Ryan. It also could be a relative or possibly the grandfather to Michael.

I checked Roots Ireland to try to find a baptismal record for Michael Ryan with a father Patrick and did not find a good record. Not sure how old he was when he married.
The Doonane RC records start in 1843 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0715
Let me know if you have questions.

Hi Roger,
Yes, Patrick Ryan, is proving difficult, I know the Ryans typicaly come from Tipperary, so my laois Ryans are a rarity especially in ballylynan.. I have came across a,Patrick Ryan on above record you mentioned.. Is there a way to advise that you can give to me in getting further records on this Patrick Ryan.. I have subscribed to find my past and availed of the free access to ancestry.com last weekend, but couldn't find much of my Ryans on those sites. Would roots ireland be a helpful resource do you think.
Thanks Roger for all your help so far.
