No father was shown on this record. You have to sign-in to see the record. The record you want is the next to last on the page. She was born in the Abbeyleix workhouse.

I forgot to mention that the Deegans lived in Coolbanagher civil parish in northeast Co. Laois a long way from Abbeyleix. You don't need to post in that parish. I just wanted to make you aware of the parish for the Deegans.

Thank you for the link to the irish geneology website. It was very useful. I found my grandmother's birth in the Abbeyleix workhouse but am curious as to how she ended up with the Deegan family in Cappakeel when she was only 10 years old. I now know her mother's name was Mary Hayes but that's about it. I have been trying to find Abbeyleix workhouse records without success. Do you know if such records exist?
