I found the civil death index record for Cecelia and also a likely civil death index record for her mother Cecelia Mahony. You can get copies of these records from the General Register Office for approximately 4 euros each. If you want to get these records, let me know and I will provide instructions.

  • Good morning Roger....thank you....I do want to get these certificates....Does it show where they might be buried?  I will be there in April and want to find them so badly....

What's the next step for me to order?

Also, Cecilia Mahony's mother was Cecilia Fowler and her father Michael Mahony...

Cecilia Mahony had 2 sisters Anne and Mary that lived in a house on Mitchell Street, Dungarvan.  I did find the censue of 1901 showing they lived together....Might they be buried all in the same area?

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help.   I would like to make my trip in April very memorable and this would help.  All the best,

    Kelly

The death records will not show where they were buried. The record will show where the deceased was living, cause of death and the name of the informant. I assume they were buried at the nearest Catholic church to where they lived. Below are the instructions for getting copies from the GRO. Enjoy your trip to Ireland.

Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event. registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.

  • Hello Roger and thank you for all the info.  I have received the death info for Cecilia Mahony and I've sent in the payment for her mother's info.  Very helpful.  Now, I just need to find the church yard where they are buried....Take care,

    Kelly
