William Butler (B ~ 1805) married Mary Dunn (B ~ 1818) and emigrated to US in 1832. Mary's mother Anne Towel (or Towel) Dunn (B ~ 1790) also emigrated at some unknown time to US.  I'm looking for info about past or present relations and locations.  this couple is my great great grandparents.

  • Hello. looking at old queries and there is a townland in Kilkenny called Dungarvan, see https://www.townlands.ie/ there is also a town in Waterford called Dungarvan, I could not find births of a Mary Dunn or Dunne with a mother Towell or variant nor a Towell baptism in Kilkenny but a lot of them in Waterford 1790 to 1820. Waterford and Kilkenny border each other. The townlands site is civil divisions and religious divides may differ or named differently.

Found no Dunn baptised to a mother Towell to 1830, this is probably because there is no record as they are patchy at this period or non existent, Butler is a common enough name in Kilkenny, (Butlers Castle in Kilkenny city).

Also Mary born 1818 was hardly married in 1832.

The parish registers available are here but a difficult read more than a search without years and months. https://registers.nli.ie/

If you are looking for living relatives you could post in our parish section your names and years, also there are a number of private Facebook groups on genealogy if you apply to join you should find one for each county at least.

    Good Luck

    Pat
