Hello and thank you for this wonderful project!

I am attempting to locate a. Parish for my grgrgr grandmother Mary Cuff Reid.  Her obit says an  was from Kildare...sure hope so. Just a lovely area! Now to narrow it down a bit.

Mary married Owen /EUGENE Reid, her obit says they married in Ireland but no proof so far.

Mary was.born in 1810 in Kildare and.was in.the united.states by 1834 with Eugene and a Thomas Farrell.  They settled in Cranberry Township Venango county Pennsylvania where they raised their.family.  according to records  all the children were.born in the states which is why I question where they were married.  I cringe to imagine her.pregnant on one  of those ships or having a new.baby in a new country.

Eugene died in June of 1871 @ 65 making his yr of birth about 1806.  Now I just have  to determine WHERE .  I believe prob kildare but no way to know for sure so I'm going  to start.by looking..for marriage records but no idea.what parish to start with.  Have found several Reid's in the tithe allotment books in Kildare but no Cuff's to date.  Any suggestion..would be .greatly appreciated!!!!

To TH  best of my knowledge they were Catholic.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and there were no baptismal records on that data base in Co. Kildare for either Mary or Eugene. I also could not find a marriage record. Civil registration did not begin until 1864.

I did locate a William Cuffe in the 1826 Tithes listing for Co. Kildare in Feighcullen parish.

With the Tithe listings, you can't tell for certain if you have the right family. You have to look at the record as a lead. You have the same issue with the Griffiths Valuation head of household data from the 1850s-1860s. At least with the Griffiths, there are books which will be online soon that show how the ownership of the property changed after the Griffiths. It won't help you but changes for Northern Ireland properties are now online
