Hello, I am trying to reach the Hanlon/O'Hanlon family who still live on the family farm in the townland of Pluckkanes West. My great, great-grandmother was Ellen Hanlon, who married John Duggan of the townland Curragh in the late 1830s - early 1840s I believe. They left Ireland with their children, including my great-grandmother, also named Ellen, and their four sons around 1860 or so. I was in Ireland in April and discovered that there are still Hanlons living on the same piece of land where they were listed in Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s but I did not get a chance to go there. I would love to make contact if anyone knows them. Thank you!

  • Hi,

Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone connected to the family contacts you and is able to assist.

In the meantime, it may be an idea to also contact the local parish priest. Perhaps he may know of the family or at least be able to put a notice in the local parish newsletter. Donaghmore falls under the Catholic parish of Lislee. Here is a link to the contact details:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
