Catherine had at least two siblings Bridget born abt 1842 and Thomas born abt 1843. They seem to have left there and moved to the Dublin area. Bridget married John McCarthy in Dublin at St Andrews Catholic Church in 1863. Malachy died in 1865 in Dublin of delirium tremens in Stevenson Hospital. My Catherine left for LIverpool where she was a seamstress and married James Murray from Scotland in 1869. My grandfather John was born in 1870 in Liverpool and emigrated to the US with his Mom in 1889. Would love to find out more about this family and especially Thomas and Catherine's Mom.

  • ColCaff,

Thank you, Always found the break between Thomas and Catherine's birth odd (for Catholics). Jane Sherlock also is a puzzle. There was a Thomas Sherlock in Griffiths in Athy on Duke Street (the same name as her son) and a Samuel Sherlock in a diferent parish- Churchtown. So the name Sherlock was in the immediate area. The only Jane Sherlock births of about the right age I found in the past were in other counties but records in that time period for Catholics are sparse ;-)

Obviously some portion of the family had emigrated to Dublin by the time Malachy died 15 years after Catherine's birth..
