Hi
I am wondering if anyone has any information about a Brien Family from Cahirboshina or Caherboshina as it is also spelt.
I have traced my family back to the 1851 when a Michael Brien married an Ellen Kevane from Ballinlege in Ventry. He was my great, great grandfather. I can go back no further
Are there any descendents who immigrated? Where did the Brien family come from?

Hi Kathleen,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information on the family makes a connection with you.
In the meantime did you know that church records from County Kerry have been uploaded to http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ free of charge? Hopefully you will be able to find some new information there.
Another useful website is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what Catholic record are available in specific parishes. Kildrum civil parish is part of Dingle Catholic parish. To see what is available there follow this link:
Also, have you tried looking for records of the O?Brien?s in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century? There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Here are some websites you can go to to get information on emigration:
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspxFamily Search: www.familysearch.org
Genealogy links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/kerry/index.html
You could also try getting in contact with the local studies department of Kerry Library to see if they can offer any assistance or advice:
http://www.kerrylibrary.ie/local.asp
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

Hi Kathleen, just found this sight.
However, I have some great grandparents from this area, Not sure how many.
Michael Flaherty. Born 22 Nov 1840. per records from Roman Catholic parish of Dingle. His parents were John Flaherty and Johanna Brien. Their address was. also Caherboshina. Sponsors were Denis Brien and Johanna Johnstin (sp) I got this from the national archieves in Dublin about 3 years ago. Who knows we may have some distant realatives. Were told a lot of the records from Dingle were lost.

Hi Michael
Thank you for your message. Would it be possible for you to contact me by e mail as I do not like posting private details in public?. I was born in Caherboshina and I live in the area and I have some knowledge of the family.

Kind regards
