Hello again? Same issue with your message in the Durrow parish for Downeys. Can you provide names and dates? I did see that there were three Broderick families in the 1901 census for Ballymacjordan.

  • Kate,

I may be able to help you. My granduncle married one of the Brodericks from Ballymacjordan. And I have a pretty good knowledge of all records from the Duagh parish. Let me know exactly what it is you are looking for.

  • We meet EThomas I jsut left a new post regarding the Broderick family view that for information regarding the family my husband is related to.   His grandfather was the son of John Patrick ad Hanora (O'connell) broderick. They had a fine dairy farm in Ballymacjordan just outside of Abbeyfeale.

We meet Eileen Broderick a year before her death January 2005.  She was a grand lady. We also meet a cousin Maureen Galvin o'sullivan who had owned a nursing home outside of Listowel.

  • Hi, My grandmother is Ellen M. Broderick (of Abbeyfeale) who married Maurice Barry of Islandanny, Duagh.  Both born about 1889.  I belived they married in Bronx New York around 1908 (give or take); however, they could have married in Ireland.  I think Ellen's parents (my great grandparents) may have been Patrick John (John Patrick?) and Hanora born around 1860.  I have written for my grandmother's death certificate to get additional birth information, and will continue my search from there.  She had other brothers and sisters some of whom came to America but others stayed.  I believe there was a brother Michael, James, sister Mary, and brother Patrick (Paddy?) and some others.  I wonder if my grandmother may be part of the family you are describing.  There are some similarities and some discrepancies too.  Any info would be helpful.--Pam
