Have you searched the Church Records at Irish Genealogy?

I found Julia Doolin born of John Doolin and Julia McEllistrum born/baptised 1 Feb 1854:

They are some unusual surnames. Have you check the combination of names on the Irish Times ancestor page? You can information about the frequency of the name in the mid-19th century and any other variant spellings of the name here: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/

There are Roman Catholic church records available for Ballylongford. These date from 1823 for baptismal records and 1826 for marriage records. You can find these at the National Library of Ireland, Pos. 4284. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for more assistance.

Have you tried checking the Ellis Island records (www.ellisisland.org) or the Castle Garden records (www.castlegarden.org)? Generally, more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at, this could be a good place to find more information.

You could also try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64). There is a book you might be interested in by Michael O'Connor called 'Tracing your Kerry Ancestors', 1994.

Thomas Sandes: 1792-1828 Includes Aghavallen. NLI Ms. 1792.

I posted my quiry to the other parishes as suggested. I was unaware of the information on the Irish Times Ancestor so thank you for mentioning it. Most of the Doolings and all of the McEllistrums were in Kerry (there are only a few McEllistrums in all of Ireland). Thanks for the help, Cindy B
