If you are one of the Wallace family from Ballylongford I believe I am a cousin of yours. I have pasted a copy of some of the family records here for you to read.
Wallace
Rusheen, Ballylongford, Co. Kerry
Generation #1
Thomas WallaceThere are two Thomas Wallis mentioned in the Ballylongford parish records during the first half of the nineteenth century.
The first is mentioned in the baptism record of a James Wallis, son of Thomas Wallis and Mary Lynch of Rusheen, baptised 24th November, 1824. This is the only mention of this family in the Ballylongford records
The second Thomas Wallis mentioned married a Margaret Kean on 1st January 1824. The following children are recorded for this couple:
John Wallis: Born Rusheen, Ballylongford, 28th March 1827
Mary Wallis (i): Born Rusheen, Ballylongford, 23rd August 1829
Margaret Wallis: Born Rusheen, Ballylongford, 24th May 1836
Mary Wallis (ii): Born Rusheen, Ballylongford, 1st May 1841More about John Wallis
Baptised: 28th March 1827. Sponsors were Jeremiah Foley and Bridget KeanMore about Mary Wallis (i)
Baptised: 23rd August 1829. Sponsors were Michael Kenelly and Joana LynchMore about Margaret Wallis
Baptised: 24th May 1836. Sponsors were Patrick Keane and Catherine KeaneMore about Mary Wallis (ii)
Baptised: 1st May 1841. Sponsors were Michael Kean and Ann EnrightWhile it is impossible to say conclusively what the relationship of William Wallace was to either of the two Thomas detailed above it is virtually certain that he was related to one or both of them. One could speculate that William was the son of Thomas Wallis and Margaret Keane – this would certainly seem the more plausable scenario because the last recorded child of Thomas Wallis and Mary Lynch was James, baptised in 1824, and William was not born for a further 23 years, whereas there are baptism records for children born to Thomas Wallis and Margaret Keane right up to 1841,

Hi,
My Grandmother Nora Wallace was born in Ballylongford and later moved to New York. Her Father was William Wallace and her mother was Margaret Molyneaux. She watched her sisters Delia and Margaret board the Lusitania. She had three children.
I live in New Jersey. I’ve been to Ballylongford about 3 times.
Thanks for all of the great information on this site.
I did the Ancestry DNA test and North Kerry shows up a lot.
Thanks,

Hi,
My aunt Mary (Chrissie) Hanlon married a Michael (Mickeen) Wallace and they used to run the irnmongers also pub in Ballylongford. They had 2 daughters one Noreen and the other I cannot recall the name, but Noreen took over and ran the pub in Ballylongford. Mickeen also did a bit of sheep farming and fruit collection I believe off land around the nearby castle.
Has anyone any details of this family?

Thanks for all this information. My father was Jim Wallace, son of John and Elizabeth. He was born in 1914, and immigrated to US at the age of 16. This info fills in some of t’he blanks. Thanks again, Mary Anne (Wallace) Coleman

Hi Charlie, I'm a cousin as Michael Wallace married Chrissie Hanlon my mum's sister from Asdee so she was my aunt and Michael (Mickeen) Wallace was the uncle I mentioned. Have you some some details of Jimmy's life in the US? Maura is a 1st cousin that I recently have made contact with after searching my Kerry Hanlon/Stack family tree.
Great to hear from you again,

Attached FilesElizabeth Welsh.pdf (537.96 KB)
I have uploaded a memorial card for Elizabeth Welsh (Wallace). Elizabeth died in childbirth. The standing girl in the photograph was her daughter Marguerite Welch. Marguerite died of a childhood disease.
I notice that the names seem to repeat frequently generation to generation. My sister’s names are Marguerite, Elizabeth and Bernadette.
I have a number of additional photographs that I can upload. The photographs are not labeled. I don’t know if they are of Margaret, Delia, or my grandmother Nora.
Please feel free to post a reply to this site or E-mail me at ccapouet@aol.com.To Ken:
I seem to remember that my grandmother and aunt Muriel visited uncle Jim frequently. I probably met him when I was very young. I somehow remember that he was a high official in a local union. Unfortunately my aunt Muriel died a few years ago. She would be the last to remember any details about him. As I go through the material left by my aunt, I will look out for anything about Jim.To Maura:
I’m sorry to hear about your sister Elizabeth and Nora’s husband. I seem to remember that his name was Vincent. Please give Nora my best. I tried to stop by at Nora’s pub about 10 years ago while passing through Kerry. The roads were flooded that day and I was not able to get into Ballylongford.I just found a letter from your sister Elizabeth to my aunt Muriel from 1963. She mentions you in the letter. I can post or send a copy or the original to you. My E-mail is above.
Do you know if Sheila O’Carroll still lives near Nora? She likes Oreo cookies. I can send her some more.
About 15 years ago I met Gerard Wallace in Salthill Galway. I was introduced to him by his nephew Sean O’Sullivan of Dublin. I have lost track of both of them. Do you know how they are doing?
I’m hoping to get back to Ireland within the year. I plan to make a stop in the Ballylongford/Listowel area. This will give me a chance to try out my new Irish passport that I was able to get based on my Irish born grandmother. My wife and I are leaving on a trip to Amsterdam, Malta and Bruges on Friday.

There was a Thomas Wallace in Leanamore, Ballylongford, Co., Kerry during the famine years. The two records are from the "House Books", which were compiled into Griffiths Valuation of the area. There is a date of 6 Sep 1847 on one of the pages. https://search.findmypast.ie/record?id=IRE%2FCENSUS%2F1821-51%2F007246885%2F01017&parentid=IRE%2FCENSUS%2FVALUEBOOKS%2F1272809
My ancestors in this village were the Breen family. I also have a record of a baptism of Thomas Breen of Ballynoneen (~9 miles from Leanamore) 8 Nov 1876, son of Edmond Breen & Mary Breen, Wallace.
If the links above do not work, contact me by email (j.p.sullivan602@gmail.com) and I will capture the images, turn them into pics and send them to you.
