I have researched both of these families (my ancestors) back to Rahoon Parish Galway. Patrick Mulloy and Bridget Codyre married in 1836. I have the parish marriage record and the bapism records of their children: Patrick, Bridget (Mary), Sarah, Martin, and Judith (Julia). The family migrated to the United States about 1855 and are listed in the 1860 census records for Nashville, Tennessee. The entire family is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Nashville. The cemetery record for Patrick Mulloy indicates he was born about 1805. Assuming Bridget Codyre was 21 years old when she married, she would have been born about 1815. I have looked at all Irish records available on Ancestry and Ask About Ireland. While there are Mulloy families under various spellings in several Galway townlands in the Tithe Applotment Books and Griffith's Valuation Survey, the Coydre family appears to be from Mincloon. Because the parish records begin in 1819, it seems that information about most families prior to that date do not exist unless a family has kept a bible record or family history. The surname Codyre in Galway is not common. Does anyone know the names of the children and descendants of Patrick Codyre of Mincloon, listed in both the Tithe Applotment Books and Griffith's Valuation Survey?
Their children's baptism records indicate that the family moved between an area called "Aiskeyboy" and New Village Townland. Does anyone know anything about "Aiskeyboy"? There were very few dwellings in New Village at the time of the Tithe Apploitment Survey. More dwellings show up in the Griffth's Survey, none occupied by Mulloys. Does anyone have information on the settlement of New Village? While Mulloy is a larger family group, I would welcome information on the family in Rahoon Parish. From the records, related families appear to be Lally and Griffy.
My daughter and I will be in Galway for nine days at the end of July, 2018. We would both really enjoy meeting a distant cousin. Visiting with anyone who knows the history of Rahoon Parish and who had the time to spend a few hours showing us around would also be great.
I am reaching out to Galway and would really enjoying hearing back.

Hello Tina,
I got excited when I saw your posting's heading - Codyre Families of Mincloon/Rahoon. My research tracks back to Bridget Codyre (my 2nd great-grandmother) who was born in June 1834 to Patrick Codyre and Magaret Gilloway and got married to Michael O'Neill around 1854. I have some info on some families in Mincloon, Rahoon and surrounding areas. If we can get in touch offline and compare our records to see if our families are connected or not, please get in touch with me via dilbretta at hotmail dot com.
I also am hoping to find some distant cousins living in Mincloon, Rahoon and surrouding areas. I do have a contact info that you and your daughter might want to contact for possible tour in Galway and nearby. Hope to hear from you via email.
Cheers,
Roni

Added Remarks and Questions about Codyre Ancestors:
Codyres are buried in at least three Rahoon Parish cemeteries: Forthill, New Rahoon, and Bushypark. The oldest burial is Patrick Codyre at Forthill who died in 1849. His age and date of birth are not recorded. Buried at New Rahoon are John Codyre, born about 1837, and Thomas Codyre, born about 1843. The Codyre burials at Bushypark are more recent burials for family members born in the late ninteenth and into the twentieth centuries.
Does anyone know the ancestor line of any of these Codyres? Does anyone know a Codyre family tree that identifies ancestors back to the early nineteenth century? Who were the parents and the families of John and Thomas Codyre buried at New Rahoon?

Hi Tina M.,
I have been doing some work on any Codyres I come across in Mincloon/Rahoon area.
"Buried at New Rahoon are John Codyre, born about 1837, and Thomas Codyre, born about 1843."
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/183663780/john-codyre
According to his death registry, he was married to a Catherine. His parents were undetermined at this time. He must be related to a Thomas Codyre who erected the tombstone, but no baptism record is found on a John Codyre.

Thomas' wife was Mary Kyne and his three children, Margaret, Delia and Catherine, were buried in the same cemetery. His parents were Patrick Codyre and Magaret Gilloway - related to my 2nd great grandmother - Bridget Codyre. You have access to my family tree on Thomas Codyre, so please feel free to examine information there.
Cheers,

I know this post is old but I just came across it. My 3rd great grandmother was Margaret Codyre. She married Stephen Curreen 6 Nov 1813 in Rahoon. They had the following children; Stephen bapt. 1820, Thomas bapt. 1822, James bapt. 1825, Peter (my 2nd ggrandfather) bapt. 1829, John bapt. 1830 and Sarah bapt. 1833. All baptism records are from Polleeny, Rahoon execpt Sarah, who was Knockanavody, Rahoon. I have no other records for Margaret Codyre. Her 2 sons Peter and Stephen immigrated to Portsmouth, Virginia. I have no info on the other siblings or her husband Stephen.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Hi Kim,
Thank you for taking time to share information here. It is first time I have heard of a Margaret Codyre and Stephen Curreen. I looked up and noticed that the death date for Stephen Curreen was 1840 in Polleeny, Rahoon, but no source, unfortunately. Their children, Stephen Curreen/Curran married Ellen Flood. Some of Stephen's and Ellen's children migrated to Illinois from Virginia as far as I can tell. Peter and his family remained in Virginia area for a long while.
As you probably knew, the records are very limited before 1864 in Ireland. Have you done DNA? Sometimes, DNA helps for us to figure out how we are connected.
Hope this helps.

Hi Roni,
Thank you for your response. I found a death record of Stephen Curreen 24 Dec 1841 in Rahoon on RootsIreland, but have no way of verifying if it is my Stephen. Where did you find the 1840 date?
I have done DNA. I am on Ancestry as KA Curran. I also uploaded to MyHeritage and Gedmatch.

Hi Tina,
I notice you asked about "Aiskeyboy". If you read the book "Galway Bay" by Mary Pat Kelly I believe you will find a description of "Aiskeyboy"

Hi, I am new to this site but am researching the name Codyre/Codyer/Codire from the Galway area. My Codyer immigrated to Boston/Waltham, Massachusetts, USA in August of 1844 on the “Empire”. Thomas Codyer was born about 1827 in Ireland, wife Mary Folan/Foley born in Ireland about 1829. Possible that Thomas had a first wife named Delia.
