I must say that I have been thrilled to find your site, and delighted with the responses I have had to date.

With the discovery that 7/8ths of my bloodlines are Irish has come the 'mission' of finding their homelands.  I have devoted the past 3 years to discovering their journeys in reverse, from the lives they built in New Zealand, backwards, often via Australia, and home to their respective Counties and their towns or villages.  It has been a rewarding journey and the icing on the cake has been finding their parishes....AND now some of their living relatives!  This could not have been achieved without your site and the generosity of information from the people who have responded.  I thank you.

I would like to offer any help I can to those Irish people who had relatives leave the Emerald Isle to carve a life in New Zealand.  I am happy to try and find where they may have ended up.

 I do have a new contract McInerney and Fahey.   I think they're different from yours my great-grandfather was William McInerney from Hollymount  peterswell.   He married to Catherine Fahey  I can't seem to find any information on then   Their son John McInerney continued to live in that home and married and Bridget Nee    He would be my grandfather    Anyone have any information on that family   . hope you are still around and following this thread! I am a descendant of Michael Kearney and Bridget Fahey, through their daughter Hannah who married James Hannan at Waitahuna 1910.
On Bridget Fahey's death certificate, her father is listed as Edmund, rather than Edward. Maybe he was just known as Ed by everyone and the family guessed when it came to the death certificate?

We visited Lawrence in Otago a few years back and went to the little museum they have there. Full to the brim of old local records!!!! And the Lawrence cemetery is overrun with Fahey's. I have around 40 gravestone photos.
I would love any info or photos you may have on the Fahey/Kearney lot, especially from the Ireland end.

Hi All,

I hope this thread is still live and checked from time to time. My Great Grandfather was Patrick (Pop) Fahey from Dunally, Peterswell.  I believe he was a younger brother of Thomas  & Bridget Fahey. You can find his details in the 1901 & 1911 Irish Census Records.  (He's shown as being 55 or 71 years old at the time.) I'd be delighted to hear from anyone desccended from Thomas or Bridget and to find out more about this side of the Family Tree.
