Hi,
I am looking for information on Margaret Madden born 11 Feb 1830 in Kilkooney, Galway. About 1850 she came to the US with an aunt and uncle (names unknown). They entered at the Port of New Orleans and moved up the Mississippi to Cincinnati, Ohio. Somewhere on the river trip the aunt died. Margaret met a man she knew in Ireland (Martin White) and married him in Cincinnati in 1853. Margaret had a brother James Madden b. abt 1834 who settled in Memphis, Tennessee. James was a fireman in Memphis and married Eliza Kelly. Possible parents for these two are Patrick Madden and Kitty Catherine Minogue. The names are oral family tradition with no documents to verify.

Hi Mary
There are 6 birth/baptism records of Margaret Maddens born 1830 + - 5 years but none in exactly 1830 on www.rootsireland.ie/
Of the six, two have a father named Patrick but none has mother Minogue or Catherine; 1 is 1829 & 1 1832
Unfortunately neither is from Kilconley Parish. (Kilcooney is not listed)
I assume you are aware of the Bartels-Goold & Lane Bixler tree on nacestry which has pictures of Margaret & husband Martin White
No luck on irishgenealogy or Family Search either I'm afraid
However there is better news in the Tithe Applotments 1823-37 which are free online
There are 2 Patrick Maddens in Kilcooney 1830 Townland - the parish is Clonrush
This will give you an address for the family in 1830
So, back to rootsireland to see if one of the baptisms was from Clonrush but it isn't in the list!!
rootsireland also has 3 birth/baptism records for James Madden with father Patrick:
1830 (twin?) 1831 & 1837
Now another search for mother Minogue to narrow down the 3 brought no matches but first name Catherine did: 1831
It costs to view the full record on rootsireland but it will have the parish and MAYbe the parents' names.
