Trying to locate family members of John King. He left Ireland (County Galway) and went to the USA around the early 1900's. He resided in Westbrook, Maine and then moved to Limerick,Maine. He was not married when he left Ireland. He always told me he came from County Galway and I will be going to Ireland this coming October and would like to be able to meet some of the family. John King was my grandfather. I am the first son of Edward King, who was one of John's sons. My name is Robert King.

There are 122 John Kings in the 1901 census for Galway http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Use the search and put in his date of birth (found on naturalisation papers) and you should narrow it down to about a dozen
Look at his first born son and see if there is a match to John's father
Would be helpful toknow John's date of birth or even year, date of immigration (document would show who he was coming to and possibly who his next of kin wasin Ireland and their location)- all these available either thru public library or an ancestry account
Also the names and birth date order of his children as that could help if they kept traditional naming patterns
When he told you about where he came fromwhat else did he say - was it on a farmor in a town ? Did he have siblings - what were their names ? What were his parent's names ? Did any relations ever visit - what were their family names ?
All that info woudl be quite helpful in pin pointing his birth location
If you need any help in arranging the Ireland trip let me know and I will see what I can do
