Looking for any decendants of Philip and Bridget Coyne. Both were born in County Galway around 1866-68. Philip's father was John Coyne and his father was Martin Coyne. Martin was born in 1800 and married Mary (Walsh) Coyne. Both were born around the Clifden area. Any information on our family would be great. We have hit the wall.

Steven:
I wrote a long reply and then had it rejected by the system so I will try again. I found baptismal index records for borth Philip and Bridget at www.familysearch.org Their parents were John and Mary Coyne and they lived in Rinvyle (Renvyle is current spelling) which is north of Clifden in Connemara. Bridget was born on April 30, 1867 and Philip was born on April 14, 1865. I also found a civil birth index record for Philip in the Clifden registration sistrict, 1865, Volume 9 page 193. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie and request a copy of the birth record. Fill out their form and provide the year, registration number and volume and page number. Costs around 4 euros and it should provide the townland where they lived. There were three birth index records for a Bridget Coyne in the Clifden district for 1867 so I don't know which one is correct. Did Philip and Bridget emigrate or stay in Ireland?

Philip and Bridget Coyne emigrated to Scotland. I am not sure when but their daughter's name is Catherine Coyne born in Sterling Scotland 1885. Hope this helps, thanks Roger for your information!

Steven:
I misunderstood about Bridget thinking she was a sister to Philip so maybe the baptismal info is for his sister not his wife. Do you know Bridget's maiden name?

Bridget's maiden name was Kelly. Her parents were Patrick and Bridget Kelly, born around 1810-1820.
Bridget's mother's name is also Bridget and her maiden name was Bridget Layden. Thanks again Roger, hopefully when we return to Ireland in August we may have some information about family. Again, thanks for all of your help.

Steven:
Looked for a Bridget Kelly. I found a baptismal index record for 1867 but the mother's maiden name was McDonagh instead of Layden.

My wife and I will be in Clifden in early August. Oughterard seems to be half way between Clifden and Galway. I noticed the Christening Place is listed as 479 Oughterard, Gal, Ire. Is the number an address? We would like to find this. This is going to be perfect. We will be close to Oughterard and Renvyle during that week. It will be nice to see my wife's great grandparents home and the area where her grandmother's Christening was. If you can find anyother information about the Coynes and Kelly's please let us know. Looking forward to our visit. Thanks Roger, Steven and Shannon

Steven:
479 is not an address. I think it refers to a record number on a microfilm or other media. Enjoy your trip to Ireland. By the way, I live in the USA.

Catherine Coyne was my grandmother. She met my grandfather in England during WW one. They lived and died in Columbus Ohio, USA. She was fondly called Kitty.

Steven nice to finally see someone also looking for their Coyne connections! I have also hit a dead end road myself but I am hoping you may be able to help. I saw your Martin Coyne born 1800~ and is father to a John Coyne. My 3rd great grandfather was Patrick Coyne born 1819~. Do you know if he was a sibling to your John or do you know how many children your Martin and Mary had? From my resources my Patrick was born in Roscommon however I do not have any actual documentation of that besides his wife my 3rd great gran who was Sarah Hoban was born in Roscommon. They had several children born in Ireland before they emigrated to America in 1846. Some of their children I’ve seen born in Ballymoe, Galway which is right on the ros/gal boarder so that’s why I think there’s a chance that my Patrick may have been born in Galway and potential relative to your line.
Thanks,
Cory
