One of the research constraints for you will be the lack of RC parish records prior to 1855 for Ballymacward and Clonkeen ( there are also records from 1841-1843). http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0326

I'm on vacation currently but maybe others will comment but I will try to get back to you in a week. Also, have you considered autosomal DNA testing.

I have been searching the registers and I did the autosomal DNA testing with FTDNA two years ago hoping to find a match with Irish connections.

I am from the neighbouring parish of Menlough (civil parish Killascobe) 

The surnames Fahy and Ryuane are quite common in the area and with the lack of records you will possibly not find what you hope for there 

However as you did the FTDNA Family Finder I would suggest that you upload the raw test results onto the free site gedmatch.com and then post the gedmatch number 

I have gedmatch numbers for several people whose ancestry is from the area and will then see where you may match

At this stage unfortunately despite the good information that you have its possibly not enough to make connections

Yes your probably right, I may not be able to find the records I'm looking for, but a DNA match would be something amazing.

I would like to say in regards to DNA our Irish ancestors definitely carried the sporting gene. It has graced almost every generation since with highly skilled sporting men and women. With quite a few representing and captaining this country in football (rugby league and rugby union).

It takes about 10 minutes to load and then you will be assigned a number 

It takes less than 48 hours to process to see all your matches but you can do a 1-1 before that 

When you get the number please forward and I will see what 'jumps' out :)

I hope that you were able to get the 1-Many and see some of your known connections 

I was hoping that some names might pop up that could be mutually known but nothing yet

Unfortunately this message pop up won't let me show the generations chart when I did a 1-1 with you and  my aunt Kit #399145 - there were some that you both match but were matching for differernt reasons ie cousins of cousins 

Will keep coming back to it in time to see if anything else pops up

I have been looking at the 1-Many and I see familiar names from my highest confirmed relationship matches on FTDNA.

There are a few unfamiliar names that I will endevour to look at closer, once I find my way around Gedmatch.

My next DNA group meeting is next week, so I will definitely get some pointers there and hopefully start contacting any new matches.

I'm sure that in time something will come up.

My family are holding the Fahey Family Reunion in October this year in my home town and I know they will be delighted that I have had a reply from Ireland Reaching Out.

Martin would you know the name of any cemeteries in the Ballymacward parish where my catholic ancestors may have been buried around the 1840's. 

I have attached a photo that a relative sent me a few years ago claiming this was the Ballymacward cemetery.

I too am a descendent of John Fahy and Honora Ruane, and am looking for more information about their Irish roots. How did you go? Have you progressed on the irish front?

My GG Grandfather was William Fahey, but I have quite a bit of information on all the 6 Fahey boys. I visited the Appin Historical Society, and they provided me with quite a bit of information.

I was disappointed to read that there was a Fahey Reunion in Oct, 2016. Anything that you can share on John and Honora, would be great.
