My Gt Gt Grandmother was Delia Egan. She married in 1884 (age 22 years giving approx birth year of 1862). Her parents are noted as John Eggan and Bridget Eggan (nee Kelly). After being widowed she married again in 1897 (age 31 years giving approx birth year of 1866). Her parents are noted as John Egan and Mary Egan (nee Kelly). She died in 1937 (age 71 giving approx birth year of 1866). Her parents are noted as John Egan and Bridget Egan (nee Kelly). On census records her place of birth is noted as Ireland.
I am at the point of tearing my hair out as I can't find any birth record for Delia (her first husband was born in Galway but I've been unable to find anything in this or any other county). I haven't been able to find a marriage record for John Egan and Bridget Kelly. I have found one for John Egan and Mary Kelly for Loughrea in 1864 which I thought may be a possibility despite the Bridget/Mary thing but children I have found for them don't include Delia.
Can anyone help???? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched Roots Ireland and could not find a baptismal or birth record for a Delia/Bridget Egan with father John and mother with surname Kelly. A good number of Galway parishes do not have baptismal reocrds on Roots. I assume from your note that Delia was not married in Ireland. Have you found her in either a 1900 or 1901 census depending on where she lived. Have you checked Ancestry for a possible family tree that someone else has posted? You mentioned finding the 1864 marriage in Loughrea. Were any of the children named bridget because Delia and Bridget were used interchangeably?

Many thanks Roger. I do t suppose there is a list of parishes who's records are NOT yet on roots.ie? I'm guessing trying to find Delia is going to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
I've checked Ancestry but no match for or her brother. There's a 14 year age gap between them so there must have been more siblings but they will be in the same boat as me if there are no other records to work from.
I'm having to discount the Loughrea connection...there was no Bridget or Delia and altho' there is a John (his year of birth is way out on what we know) so having thought I'd made lots of headway, I'm back to where I started.

Claire:
I see Elwyn has provided a list of the RC parishes in East Galway that are covered in Roots. There would be a similar list for Galway West. Also, some parishes have records starting later than 1862.
I looked at the 1856 Griffiths Valuation for Co. Galway and there were 37 John Egans listed on Roots. (We don't know if the father of Delia was listed on Roots). www.askaboutireland.ie
I know it is tedious work but you could review parish registers for Galway parishes (eliminating those which are included on Roots). I'm going through this same exercise now trying to find the baptismal record for my wife's great-grandfather in Co. Wexford. registers.nli.ie

Hi Clare,
Will you give names of both Husbands? Name of Brother you refer to in the post and confirm if he was younger or older. There may be some other researcher who may make a link if this information is provided.
Best of luck with your research. Gerlish

Have you done a DNA TEST? If so let us have your details. I have Kelly on both my mum and dad's side and a few of each of these sides both here and in the United States have done tests, so if you are connected in any way, my young son has quite a bit of research done on all sides of our family and could help you.

What were the names of the two husbands?

Hi first husband was Michael Cloherty born in Galway. They married in Dumbarton, he was killed very young and she later married John McQuade.
