Hi there, I'm just wondering if anybody would have any information on some of my family members who came from Peterswell, specifically Martin Burke born 18/5/1865 in Ballylee, Kiltartan.
He married my great grand aunt Margaret Daley, from Derrybrien but they both moved to Kentucky where he died in 1918 so he is unlikely to have been known well around the Peterswell area but he did have siblings called Catherine Burke (born 1873) and Patrick (born 1874) Burke. It is Catherine and Patrick I'm trying to find but I'm afraid I've hit a brick wall.
Their parents were Patrick Burke (born 1835) from Kiltartan, and Margaret Cronnolly (born 1834; dont know where from originally).
I still have family living in Roo near Kilmacdaugh (Michael Quinn) and together we are trying to put it all together. If anything rings a bell with anybody, I'd be delighted to hear. Thanks very much!!

Hi Aherlow,
Thank you for this information. I have the detail you attached so it is reassuring to know I am on the right track. I have since verified that Margaret Cronnolly and Patrick Burke were the parents of Catherine, Patrick and Martin Burke. I wonder if any of the decendants of Catherine and / or Patrick as still living in Kiltartan / Peterswell? I am told that there are still Burkes living near Ballylee in Loughnawadda near a family of Learys. Can anybody verify this for me? Thank you again!! Sinead

Hello Sr de Lourdes Fahy,
I don't know how I missed this message, only that a picture of a hurling team with Patrick Burke in it popped up on XO this evening it would not have led me back here as my notifications were switched off. Im certain its the right person as the DOB and time of match in 1898, 1899 and 1900 tally:-

Thank you so much for this information. I was in Peterswell, Gort, Kiltartan and Kinvarra in october with my dad Frank, Michael Quinns brother. I saw the museum. I intend visiting again in the summer and in September with Martin Burke's great great grandson Frank (Rick) whom I have found in the southern state of Alabama. It would be lovely to meet you. I will contact you offline by email at the convent. Im in contact with Michael Quinn very regularly. Thank you so much!!
With warmest regards,
