Looking for RC church records BMD or burial for Trehy ancestors found in the Kilmoylan area, likely tenants on the Spring-Rice Estate and Mount Trenchard Estates aka Cappa near Foynes. Family oral history says they came from Foynes. So far, we know that at least 3 sons immigrated to Detroit, Michigan in about 1830 or so; Michael Trehy, Thomas Trehy and William Trehy all born about 1795. The surname is variously spelled Treahy/Trehy/Trahey .
So far, we have found the following:
1770: James Trehy( Trehee), tenant listed on Mount Trenchard Estate map.
1808: Michael Trehy listed as a paid tenant on the Spring-Rice Estate papers.
1833: Tithe Applotments for James Trehy in Ballyane, John Trehy in Ballynash and Patt Trehy in Leehys.
1851-52: Griffith's Valuation for Cornelius in Shannagolden, John in Ballynash and James in Ballyane.
1852-53: Landed Estate records list Cornelius and James Trehy.
I am hoping there might be some RC church records which would connect our the immigrating sons to their family in this area.
Thanks!

Hi Col,
Sorry for my delay in thanking you for your work here. My thoughts about this Michael Trehy in Bruff are mixed because Bruff is some distance ( 55km) to the Mount Trenchard/Spring-Rice/Foynes/Shannagolden area where he is found in the 1808 estate records as being paid for working there.
The birth date of 1790 would work tho. I looked for a Purcell and Edmond Trehy in the Tithes in Limerick but that wasn't too successful. Also in Griffith's. The only likely Trehy I found was a John Trehy in Bruff. Until something else comes forward, I should wait to pursue marriage records here, I think.
I will save your findings for future reference. Thanks you very much! I sure appreciate your helping me work on this.
Regards,
Mary
