Does anybody (from Ballygar) know the current use/owner of Hood & Steele Corn store building in the Market Square in Ballygar. My GGGgrandfather, Daniel Clarke, lived next to the store at the time of 1850s Griffiths Valuation. Daniel had a few properties around Ballygar and I'm trying to track the occupancy to see if it stayed in the family (there are lots of gaps in the birth/marriage/death records available). Thanks

The revaluation records should help you track how long the property remained in the family. They take the primary Griffiths valuation forward until about 1930, and show changes ot tenants, landlords and the buildings and land. They are held in the Valuation Office in Dublin (but are not on-line).

I submitted a request to the valuation office to try and track descendants of Daniel Clarke in the properties he rented in Killeroran vic in Griffiths Valuation c1855. I got a prompt (same day!) reply from Brendan Robbins and hopefully these records will shed more light on Daniel's descandants.
