We are trying to trace a Mullins family for a lady in the USA - this lady is approx. 65 yo now - she is the 3rd generations adrift from her great granny who immigrated from Brierfield, Ballinsloe sometime prior to 1933. One person in the chain lived in Brierfield (the family home as we know it but there is a suggestion that they moved to Brierfield from Kilbegnet) is Laurence Mullins (this could also be Mullen at this point in time as there is a suggestion that the name changed also a few generation back). Laurence Mullins died approx. 1933 - 5 children : Sarah, Mary, Patrick John, William, Laurence (Sonny) - it is our understanding that it was the childrens' Uncle and Aunties that immigrated ie Laurence's Brother and Sisters'Brierfield is in the parish of Abbeyknockmoy and town-land of Ballinsloe. Patrick John lived in the home place until he died and his son now lives there - LiamWilliam lived in Killaloonty, Tuam until he died - his wife Mary still lives there.Laurence lived in French Park, Mount Talbot, Roscommon until he died - his wife Helga still lives there,Sarah is still alive I understand and living somewhere in the UK - trying to get some information from this old lady currentlyMary lived in Longford in latter years until her death - her son Edward still lives there 1911 census does not have but one family (Hoare) living in Brierfield - Cooloo district.

hi Emma,
I have Mullin/s relations in my family but haven't worked out where they fit in yet.
All I have on them is my Grandfathers sister travelled to New York with her Mullins cousins in 1903..............
A cousin of mine also has Mullins in his family, I have asked him for further details of his connection.
-----------
Anyway..............
There was an unmarried 35yo Laurence Mullin living with his Mother Mary and 6 siblings in Brierfield (Stevens), Moyne, Galway in the 1901 Irish Census that would match the Laurence you speak of.
Laurence's siblings were Nora, Maria, Ellen, William, Catherine, John.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Moyne/Brierfiel…
So Laurence would have been born c.1865, by 1933 he would have been around 68yo.
In 1911 he is still single and 38yo ?? and living in the house with his Mother, his siblings have left the house.
The 1925 Census would show the names and ages of his children if this is the correct family - this Census unfortunately won't be released until Easter 2016.
There was a Patrick John Mullin born in 1920 in TUAM - this is where Births, Deaths, Marriages are registered for the Moyne area - this would mean he would have been 5yo in the 1925 Census.
If I find out any more I will let you know.
Regards,
SEAN

Our volunteer in the Abbeyknockmoy area has come back with the following query and information:
I need more information from the lady about her ancestor who emigrated before 1935. Is she in the Irish Census for 1911? What was her name, and when she was born etc ??---------- fyi I have managed to trace my Grandfathers MULLIN cousins in Moyne who may be related to the person you are trying help. They lived at Dangan Oughter (Moyne, Galway) This is the family on 1901...........http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Moyne/Dangan_Oughter/1397815/ The Mother was originally Ellen Higgins, also known as Nelly. There were another two sons already living in NY in 1901, Michael and Bernard. Ellen in the above Census, emigrated to NY in 1903.

Just wondering what info you need
Liam Mullins family lives in Brierfield Stephens http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Moyne/Brierfield__S…
The families here according to family oral history were evicted in the c1870s from their lands in Kilbegnet (Creggs) and settled in Briarfield
I am doing their family tree as I am connected through marriage on my maternaland paternal lines
Let me know what you need

Hi.
My mother is the daughter of Patrick John Mullins of Brierfield and the sister of Liam who now lives in the Brierfield house. My mother left Ireland to England, and subsequently we emigrated to the US in 1971. I live in CA, and my mother lives in NC and we would love to connect with whomever is looking for the family. Thanks.
