I am hoping to bring my mum (now 86) over to Ireland in August as she would like to see the place her grandfather was born and a place her father returned to several times when she was a child.
Elizabeth (nee Kilcommons) is the daughter of James Kilcommons (born c 1895) and May Davies
James is the son of John Kilcommons (born c 1856 ireland) and Elizabeth Reeves they married in 1877 in Chesterfield other children were Nelly, Mary, John, William and Catren) ; I am struggling to find any baptismal records or birth certificate for James.
The wedding certificate states Thomas Kilcommons was his father and I believe he was married to Catherine Coyne. but am trying to gain any clarification can any one help
Many thanks kathryn

Hello,
My Quinn family came from the townland of Keeloges East in county Galway (very close to the Roscommon boarder). The Kilcommons name is found in that townland.
In the summer of 2014 there were some exchanges of info on the Ballynakill (ballymoe) Galway parish page related to Kilcommons families from here. I would suggest you check out the link below that will take you to those messages. In particular, try to connect with Augustine Curley who is included - if you are unable to reach him through this site, let me know, I may have his email. He has done a lot of research on his Kilcommons family.

I forgot to mention...within the townland of Keeloges East, at the southern portion, is an area that was/is known as "Buncrower", sometimes spelled "Brimcrower" - this is where the Kilcommons families lived. There are Kilcommons there in the 1820's Tithe Applotment records... http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004587405/004587405_00606.pdf
And - there is a Thomas Kilcommon(s) in the 1857 Griffiths Valuation records for Keeloges East - in Buncrower - living next to two "Coyne" familes...image attached.
I believe this may be a good candidate for your Thomas.

Kathryn - by any chance - after Chesterfield, did any of your Kilcommons family end up in Pringle, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania?

I have placed a good deal of Kilcommons information on WeRelate.org. Here is a link to the page of Owen Kilcommons of Kellogues East: http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Owen_Kilcommons_%281%29
