My Gt Grandfather Michael Reilly was baptised on 8 Sept 1846 at Cummer, Galway. His parents were Thadeus Reily and Honor Donohoe. Can anyone offer any earlier information about Thady and Honor?
TIA.

In the Parish of Cumer and Kilmoylan there seem to be 2 churches, 1 in Corofin and the other in Belclare.

The records begin in 1835 for baptisms and 1813 for marriages.
There is 1 match for Michael mentioned above in 1846. If you go on to the Roots Ireland website you will be able to look at the details of this baptism but there doesn't seem to be any record of his parents marriage in any of the counties available. As civil registration didn't begin until 1864 there will be no state birth record for Michael. There is however a baptism for a Thaddeus born to a father Thaddeus and mother Honor Donohue, so Michael's brother
There is 1 Thaddeus listed in Griffith's Valuation 1855 in the Civil Parish of Kilconla, townland of Cloonsheen
There are 4 names mentioned in the Tithes in 1825 for that townland but no Reilly
Hope this helps

Thanks for your very prompt reply. I was unaware that Michael had a brother Thady. My research has traced a number of Thady's in the area, so it seems to have been a name that was passed along.
Michael married in 1873 to Rose Reilly ( same surname, not a mistake) in Westport, Mayo. and moved shortly afterwards to Manchester. Some of his descendants still live there. The Westport connection is intriguing, as Honor Gill, who, if it's the same person, was a witness to Michaels baptism in Cummer, died in Westport in 1868. It seems there was some family connection, but I have been unable to trace anything.
I've also traced a number of Honor Donohoes, Michaels mother, in the area, but haven't been able to trace her marriage to Thady. More digging required.
Thanks again,
Tony
