I just found out that my 3GG parents were James Madden and Mary Murray. I believe I found there marriage in the church register. The address listed was Gortnalahi. I cannot seem to find that town. Any ideas what it might be. Here is the link to their marriage register (4th line under 2 Mar 1829): http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632938#page/18/mode/1up

It could be the townland of Gortnaclohy which is in the civil parish of Lickmolassy. Here is a map so that you can see the distance between the places. Lickmolassy corresponds to the Roman Catholic parish of Portumna so it could be that they married in Clontuskert as that was where the bride was from, as was tradition. James may have come from outside the parish of Clontuskert.

Another possibility is Gortaloughane townland in Clonfert ciivl parish. This townland is about 15 Kilometers (9 miles) to the southeast of Clontuskert.

Thanks Roger - I spend ages yesterday saying those placenames out loud to see which would sound most like Gortnalahi!
