Catherine:
I checked the 1901 census and found a Michael Colahan in Ballymanagh. He was not there in 1911 and presumably died. I did find an 1906 civil death index record for a Michael Coolehan in the Ballinasloe registration district. The age fits your information
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Lissmanny/Bally…
First name(s) Michael Last name Coolehan Birth year 1833 Age at death 73 Registered year 1906 Registered quarter/year Jan - Mar 1906 Registration district Ballinasloe Volume 4 Page 13 There was a Bridget Colohan civil death index record for a Bridget Colohan in 1878 (below). There was also one in 1882.
First name(s) Bridget Last name Colohan Birth year 1835 Age at death 43 Registered year 1878 Registered quarter/year Jan - Mar 1878 Registration district Ballinasloe Volume 4 Page 27 I also located an 1866 civil death index record for a Peter Coolahan, Possibly this was the father of Michael.

Wow Roger, thank you so much for this information. I am sure these r the right records as my grgrandfathers marriage cert lists Michael as still alive in 1901. And Bridget dying before her children ( I have a record of Fannie dying at the end of 1978. And the record of Ballymanagh list Peter as dying then.
Is there somewhere I can get these records. Will they tell me Peters and Bridgets parents

Catherine:
The death records will not show parents. The death records show date, location, cause of death, name of informant and sometimes the relationship of the informant to the deceased.
Go to this link https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx print out the death form, fill it out to the best of your ability and add the info from the index record: quarter/year of death and in Peter's case the year, registration district and the volume and page number. You need one form per person. Make sure you request a copy not a cert. Mail the forms to the GRO in Co. Roscommon (address provided on instructions). You can ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you. Each request costs around 4 euros.
