I apologize for this late but heartfelt thanks for the replies to my question above.  I must admit that the sites email brought me here several times but I must I was just plain ignorant on how to get here.   Thank you so much for what is most useful and appreciated information.

Thanks to the feedback from the folks who replied to my first post I am quite positive that some blood members of my great-grandfather Peter Lowry's family of Ballydoolaugh continued on in Ireland when his daughter Bridget married Patrick Loftus in Clonbur - walking distance from her home.  They had nine children according to the census records.  And a photo of a gravestone from Clonbur's Rosshill cemetary shows two of their children were buried with them. (Attached)  Now I have some reason to walk around Clonbur on a visit to see if any Loftus folk have shown an interest in their relatives.  Thanks again to the folks who replied to my inquiry with enough information to verify the Lowry/Loftus link in Clonbur.
