My great grandmother was Mary Kelly, daughter of Patrick Kelly.  Believed to be from Derrybrien, Ireland.  She was born in about 1865; some have suggested 1867.  Was immigrated to the United States in 1883 on the SS Nestorium, part of the Tuk Immigration process.  Not sure, but believe she may have been accompanied by a sister, Margaret Kelly on same voyage.  Mary married Rodger Reynolds in 1894, he was originally from Gort, Ireland and immigrated to the US in 1891.  My wife and I are visiting Ireland this summer, June 2015, interested in visiting possible sites of family or learning more, perhaps from parrish records.  Thanks, John Hatcher

As would expect, finding a Mary Kelly in Co. Galway is difficult because the name is very common. Roots Ireland does not have the baptism records for the RC church on their data base.  Here is the link to the two churches in the area.

Besides Margaret, are you aware of the names of any other siblings? I located a Patrick Kelly family in the general area in the 1901 census. No idea if this is the correct family. The townland is Cloonmoylan not Clonmoylan.

Let me know if you have questions.

My family is Gallagher of Derrybrien and can be found in Derrybrien West on the 1901 & 1911 census. Whilst the bulk of the family headed to the US in MA & CA. Those who stayed did marry into Kelly families. The name is common in Derrybrien and difficult to research with certianity. Saying that we may be able to prove a link. Derrybrien is a small place and I am always keen to share with those who have a root there.
