Searching for information on my g-grandparents, John (Jack) Connare (born about 1836) and Cecily Burke (born about 1838) - both from Derrybrien. I don't know birth, marriage, or death dates for them. They were Roman Catholic - not sure if they attended church in Derrybrien or Killeenadeema.
Their children who emigrated to US were Mary (born 1857), Delia (born 1864), Patrick - my grandfather (born 1867), Thomas (born 1871), Margaret (born 1875), and Michael (born 1877). One child - Honora (born 1858) - married Patrick Ward and remained in Ireland. I would like to find descendants of these Wards.
From Griffiths Valuation, I believe that John's father was Michael (son of Mark) in Derrybrien East. I located John and his son Michael in 1901 census, but they were not in 1911 census.
I have checked birth/baptism, marriage, and death registrations available on ancestry.com and familysearch.org, but have not located additional info. Any additional info about these ancestors or their descendants in Ireland would be greatly appeciated. I am interested also in learning more about Derrybrien. Thanks.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking in church records in Killeenadeema parish for more information? Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. Catholic records for the parish go as far as 1932:
As you can see from this link the East Galway Family History Society have copies up until 1900. If you would like to contact them here is their email, please note however that a fee may apply: galwayroots@eircom.net
Some other websites that you may find useful if you have not already found them are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/galway/index.html
Also I found a book about Killeenadeema parish, since Derrybrien is part of this parish there may be some information in it. Follow this link for info on the book:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
