I am trying to find out who might have the burial records for Ardrahan Cemetery.  I am looking for a James Carr, born about 1835, died Sept. 26, 1912 Killamoran, Gort, Co. Galway.  It was said he was buried in this cemetery but so far I cannot find anyone who knows where the records are.  I would appreciate any help anyone might give me.

  • Ruth:

    Not sure if you contacted the church in Ardrahan. Here is the link and there is an e-mail address on their page.

  • Hello Rory, Thanks for your reply to my query.  However, I was not able to find any attachment to that reply.  I did send you an email message at rory_oshaughnessy@eircom.net but as yet have not received your reply.  I am wondering two things, first did you even receive my message and secondly, possibly you could explain how and where do I find the attachment you thought you had sent with your message board reply?

    Again, thanks for you help.

  • Hi Ruth,

    I have the cd Memorials of the Dead Counties Galway and Mayo from enneclann. I have been trying to get it to work on windows 7 and finally succeeded!

    There are 6 listings for Carr but all are in Mayo!

    One is in Aughavale Old and says 'see Kelly.

    3 are in Castlebar Church of Ireland:

    Eliza daughter of the late Captain Carr;

    July 11 1800 Thomas Carr

    Mary Carr died 4th May 1795 aged 6

    Clifden C of I Roseanne beloved wife of Henry Carr died 9th August 1877 aged 31

    Moycullen R C John Carr died 15th June 1863 aged 60

    I don't know if there is a later edition which may have the record you require but it might be worth emailing eneclann.
