I found this 1901 census record in Ardvarney West townland. The head of household was Robert Dinnen and his 64 year old mother Ellen was living with him. Possibly this is the Ellen who married John Dinnen.

I looked for a death index record for John Dinnen but could not locate one in the Lowtherstown registration district which encompasses Magheraculmoney civil parish. The only record I located was for a John Dinnen who died in 1891 in the Enniskillen registration district. You may want to write to the GRO www.groireland.ie for a copy of this record. It is always possible that John died in a medical facility away from Magheraculmoney parish.

  • Dear Roger

Thank you for your info.  I had the census info for Ellen in Robert Dinnen's census return in 1901, but didn't know about the John Dinnen dying in 1891 in Enniskillen District.  That is the correct age so is v likely to be the right one. How can one search the registration details?  I live in England and the way I searched the records was on a trip to PRONI about 8 years ago then Ekn townhall which has the old registers for Magheraculmony church Office. (The registrar could remember my family living in Enniskillen, not surprising in a small town!). However, there is much more data on line now.

As I mentioned in my other posting on this site, I've tried to find any info re the birth of John's father William Dinnen, also spelled Dinning or Denham in the church register in 1827 and when the children were baptised.

I must also post entries for my other ancesters in Drumreilly, Leitrim and Donagh, Monaghan and Legalough, Cavan

    All the best,

    John Dinnen

When you go to the www.groireland.ie site, you can print out a form for a copy of the death record. On the form in addition to details about yourself, you need to provide the quarter/year of death, the registration district (Enniskillen) and the volume and page number (2 and 66). The GRO is in Roscommon town. I usually get my records back in 10-12 days and I live in the USA. Costs about 4 euros.
