Hello,

I am  searching for any help in locating my relatives. I am not sure they are from Cavan but hoping to find some information.  John Barton b abt 1815 married Catherine Reeves b abt1822.  Son James born 1845 in Ireland.  In 1848 a daughter is born in Troy New York.  Six more children born in Troy. One of the children, Patrick, married my great grandmother, Bridge Cleary, who was from Fermanagh.  Bridget was the daughter of Patirck and Margaret Gilroy Cleary of Derrylin, Fermanagh.They were RC. Any record I have found just list Ireland as where they came from with no county.

Any help greatly appreciated.

    Sorry for the delayed response to your message.

    I searched the Roots Ireland indexes for all of Ireland from 1830-1850 and did not locate a John Barton/Catherine Reeves marriage. A good number of churches do not have records from that time period. I also looked fior the 1845 baptismal record for James Barton and the closest I could find where the parents were John and Catherine was an 1841 record in Co. Waterford which I assume is too early.

    Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your checking for me. My thought also was too early for any records. I can check 1841 for James but all info I have indicates a later birth. No luck in finding any ships records but John's records indicates they emigrated about 1846-47. Since they had a daughter in 1848 in New York that would hold. County Waterford might be good place to start looking as I have no idea what county they came from.
