West and Coulter

Griffiths Revaluation records show Andrew Coulter arriving in Tattykeeran in 1866 when he leased plot 7 from Lord Brookborough. Plot 7 was a house and 10 and a half acres of land (subsistence farming). He gave up this farm in 1881.

The same records show William West arriving on plot 9b in 1874. Again the landlord was Lord Brookborough. Plot 9b was a shared with Gerard Irvine on plot 9a, and the two of them farmed 32 acres 1 rood. William acquired the freehold in 1890. William was replaced by Miss Minnie West in 1908. (Probably indicating he had died). Her name remained against the property when that series of records ends in 1929.

Frances Coulter acquired plot 1 in 1883 (a caretakers lodge, outbuildings and 31 acres). George Coulter replaced him in 1886, after Frances?s death. George also acquired the freehold of his farm around 1895. His name remains against the farm when that series of records ends in 1929.

Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Francis Coulter late of Tattykeeran County Fermanagh Farmer who died 28 January 1885 at same place were granted at Armagh to George Coulter of Tattykeeran Farmer a Son. Effects ?111 3s.

(Francis evidently died intestate. The actual probate file will have been destroyed in the 1922 fire, and so all that remains now is the above abstract).
