Laurence Igoe born Muckenagh, Noughaval, Co. Westmeath came to Dublin and married Susan Graham around

1848/9. First child was John, born December, 1849, then Thomas, Anne and William. Susan died around 1876 and

Laurence returned to Westmeath and married again. John went to London in1871 and married Mary Jane Watts of

Stillorgan, Dublin, in Hackney in 1871. Eleanor was born in 1872 (my grandmother) then came Isabella Maria,

John James, Thomas Henry, Gertrude Elizabeth and William Euart. Would love to contact descendants of John's

siblings.  Did they remain in Dublin or emigrate. Your help would be appreciated.

  • Hello Nell, I have been asked to look over unanswered queries and this is some ago now. I have been unable to locate the marriage in Dublin or any births to suit.

A Susan Igoe died in Dublin in 1876 age 50 but she is a widow, the cert is now online, a Lawrence Igoe died in Mullingar age 29 in 1867, this record is not fully on line yet, you can get it via email for €4 for the entry, this site here is free for BMDs from 1864 (1845 Protestant marriages) but the ledger entries for early deaths are not visible, records are there with detail, the site is free but sign in, https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Click on Civil, church records for Dublin are there but not Westmeath. The site to purchase the record is https://www2.hse.ie/services/births-deaths-and-marriages/order/ You only want the ledger entry to get address and person present at death, if he died in hospital it will not assist as it will be the admin or someone else. Do not buy the full cert at €20 as it is just the same info in official form, a legal certificate.

One record I located on Roots Ireland a subscription site was somewhat different, a Lawrence Igoe was born in Ballymore, Westmeath in 1860, mother was Elizzabeth Igo (as transcribed) and father Lawrence Hyland. Witness Catherine Young, no other info and may not be relevant to you at all.

    Regards
