I have found a 1920 school record for a relative in St. Brigids Boys’ National School.  Apparently the school  was in St Andrews Parish.  I have 3 St Brigids National Schools in Dublin - in Carrickmines D18, in Castleknock D15 and in Killister, St Brigids Road now Howth Road D5.  Is it possible to identify which one is correct? 
 

The record also states that he transferred from Baggot Street National School.  I have found information on Baggot. street school but this suggests that it was named Mercy School or Convent School until much later than 1920.  I am interested n identifying the schools in case there may be other school records, but also as a clue to where my relative was brought up - he was fostered unofficially by a family about whom we have no information.

  • In the1920s St. Bride's Schools were on Ship Great Ship Street (src: Thom's), close to Dublin Castle - this street was in St. Bride's (aka St. Bridget's) Civil parish, but adjacent to St. Andrew's civil parish.

    (none of the other Schools are in Dublin city or St. Andrew's civil or ecclesiastical parish)
