Peter Devlin was born in Tullylish in 1833.  At some point he became an expert flax dresser. Sometime  around the early 1850s we was brought down to the Birchgrove estate in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary to help transform the Birchgrove Distillery into a flax manufactory. The family remained in Roscrea from 1850 to roughly 1900 when the bulk of the family members immigrated to Philadelphia.  I could use help with the following items below:

1) Did the Birch family reside in Tullylish (circa 1830-50)?  If so, what business venture were they employed in?  This would help to establish the possible business relationship between the Birchs and Peter Devlin.

2) Did a flax manufactory exist in Tullylish in the 1840s or 50s?  If so, where was it located and who owned/operated it? Is there any local histories that may help me place my ancestor into a historical context?

3) Peter Devlin was bapitized a Roman Catholic in 1833.  Which Catholic church would have been in existance in the 1830s in the Tullylish area?

All of my research to date has focused on the Devlins living at Birchgrove, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.  I hope that this lead regarding Tullyish may help solve the origins of the Devlins.

Thank you for any help or insights.
