I am seeking information about the family of Patrick H. Doran, b. Newry, County Down June 1840. Parents: Hugh and possibly Catherine Kelley. Patrick immigrated to Stalybridge, England where he married Catherine Lynch of Cootehall Parish, County Roscommon. They immigrated around 1866-1869 further to the Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA. Have been unable to find any info re: siblings, parents, etc. and would appreciate further information.
He was my great-grandfather and I know his birthdate is correct as I have been able to find confirmation of this info. Thanks for any help.

Hi there,
Thank you very much for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Patrick's mother's surname 'Kelley' might also be 'Kelly', so consider this when you are carrying out your research. Do not forget to check 'O'Kelly', as well, just in case the 'O' was dropped at some point.
Have you checked for the birth record of Patrick? It might contain more clues about his parents, also possibly names of godparents, etc.
You should check the land records such as the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) for information about any land holdings, etc.
County Down material available at PRONI (Public Records of Northen Ireland) for this period include: some material, including land admissions registers and relief registers, which survive for all of the unions of County Down (1839-61). The National Archives of Ireland also has a Voters list from 1842.
Best of luck in your research!
Kind regards,
Sinead Cooney

The names I am researching are McCaul/McCall - Spelt both ways since at least 1850. In the 1920s the name was changed from McCall to McCaul by my Granmother. My Granfathers siblings kept McCall as their name
Delahunt(Y) Spelt with a Y and without. I believe they were originally from Wicklow. (As far as I know they are not related to Delahunts in warrenpoint).
Any information or leads appreciated
