  • Thomas & Margaret’s marriage was registered in Banbridge on 25.2.1850. The marriage certificate should give you their father’s names. You can view the original certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.

Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church which should be on the certificate (unless it was a Registry Office marriage). That church may be the place to look for her baptism and that of any siblings.

It looks as though Margaret was born a little earlier than April 1836, otherwise she’d only have been 13 when she married, which is pretty unlikely.

Roots Ireland had a transcription of the civil marriage record. Thomas and Margaret were both from Banbridge and over 21. The father of Thomas was James and the father of Margaret was John. Both fathers were weavers.
