my g,g,g grandfather was a Samuel Munce born in Drumreagh, Co down 1778. He married Elizabeth Moore, I do not know when asI cannot find any BMD certificate for Elizabeth or a Birth Cert for Samuel.
I know Samuel was born in 1778 so I suspect his wife would be around that same date. Elizabeth was supposed to come from Mooreville in Nth Ireland, I cannot find any info on her at all. I know Samuel was widowed as he remarried in 1831 in Liverpool England to a Spinster Sarah Hall, and on their marriage cert. Samuel was classed as a Widower. He had 3 Sons by the first wife Elizabeth. In 1831 after his 2nd marriage he came out to Australia with his 2nd wife and 3 sons from his first marriage.
I have been trying to find a death cert. for Elizabeth or even a birth cert. to no avail. One of his sons did state in some correspondence in Australia that his Mother was Elizabeth (Moore) and she came from Mooreville. I have also been trying to find a Birth cert. for Samuel and the name of his parents with no luck at all.
Samuel was a Merchant in Belfast and also Dublin in early 1800's. I do have confirmation of this from Proni etc. I have looked for Death cert. for Elizabeth in Dublin and also Nth Ireland, nothing has arisen.

You won?t get a birth certificate or marriage certificate for Samuel & Elizabeth because they hadn?t been introduced in Ireland at the time of their births and marriage. You might possibly find their baptism records and their marriage in church records, if those records have survived. You also need to know their denomination(s). Tradition was to marry in the bride?s church so her family?s denomination helps narrow that search.
Death certificates only started in Ireland in 1864, so again you won?t find a death cert for Elizabeth if she was dead by 1830. The only denomination that routinely kept any burial records was/is Church of Ireland. There might just be a mention of her death in a newspaper if her husband was an important person locally but otherwise a death in the 1820s or thereabouts generally went unreported, and unrecorded. Try the Belfats Newsletter for deaths. (Copies held in Belfast Central Library).
There are two places named Drumreagh in Co Down. One is in the parish of Kilbroney, and the other in Killinchy. It looks to me as though Samuel came from the one in the parish of Killinchy. The earliest church records for any denomination in Killinchy only start in 1812. So assuming Samuel was baptised there, then sadly the church records are lost, and so you are most unlikely to trace his baptism or birth.
However I have found a mention of him on this site, renting land in Drumreagh and it says that he married Elizabeth Moore in Dublin in 1798. There are some links you may want to follow.

I can?t find a record of the marriage on-line but it may be in a church whose records are lost or which has yet to be put on-line.
I searched Griffiths Valuation for Drumreagh in 1863 but there are no Munce households listed. Presumably the family had disposed of their land by then.
PRONI holds a copy of a 1793 lease:
Lease from John Crawford Gordon of Florida, Co. Down to Samuel Munce Junior of Drumreagh, Co. Down, of 11A.1R. of the townland of Drumreagh for three lives or thirty one years. Rent ?15.15s. D4204/C/1/3/6

Thank you for Ros Davies link, I had already been into her website and have found quite a lit of usufull information from there.
The 1700's lease I already have a copy of, they were certainly relatives of my Samuel Munce.
I have my Family Tree on my computer and I was wondering if you could give me the name of where you found the marriage between Samuel and Elizabeth so as I can attach a reference to the information.
thank you, Tracey

Tracey,
The marriage is mentioned on the Ros Davies site, under the Samuel Munce entries. The source of that information is in the right hand column of the site. You would need to contact them to find out where they got the information. The contact details for Phil McArthur and Alan Williams are listed if you click on them. (That?s why I suggested you follow the links).
