Searching for info on Samuel and Jane Snodden (Stevenson) family of Killinchy.1850 onwards
Samuel a farmer was born in Ballybunden around 1852. 3 daughters immigrated to Canada, looking for any info on the rest of the Snodden children whom it is believed remained to farm in the area, one son Henry may have moved to Belfast and died there in the 1960's
Are you a Snodden descendant with Killinchy roots? Would love to hear from you.
Thank you

Hello Tom,
You should check the 1901/1911 census records which are freely available online. A brief look shows that there were 45 Snoddens in 1911 in County Down http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?census_year=1911&surname=snodden&firstname=&county=Down&townland=&ded=&age=&sex=&search=Search&relationToHead=&religion=&education=&occupation=&marriageStatus=&birthplace=&language=&deafdumb=&marriageYears=&childrenBorn=&childrenLiving=
You could also check the land records called Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) which freely available at www.askaboutireland.com or you even go further back and check the earlier records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38).
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,

Hi Tom,
I saw your post and believe that my GG-GF Francis Snodden (b. 1844) and his siblings John and Christiana are from the Killinchy/Ballygowan/Ravarra area. Although born in Belfast, I moved to Canada in 1981.
If you are interested in discussing the "Snoddens" please contact me on here and "cc" my hotmail account, robert.snowden@hotmail.com as I check it more frequently.
