MacColgans of Dromore, Co. Tyrone

I looked at the 1859 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Dromore parish just to see if there were any McColgans in the parish. There was one, a John in Cornamuck townland. 

I assume your family was RC. I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and they do not have the RC records for Dromore parish. They do have the Presbyterian records back to 1835. Roots is a pay site.

The Mormon Chruch has microfilmed the Dromore RC records and you can go to www.familysearch.org and order the film from Salt Lake City. The film goes to a local Family History Center (hopefully there is one near you) where you go to review the film. See third link below.

By the way, I checked the 1901 census and ther were no McColgans in the townland.

My ancesters were also from Dromore. In fact, I was just there a few weeks ago. The parish priest, Fr. MacEntee was very helpful.
