I am an American who is half Irish. My wife Cristy and I divide our time between Ireland, where we maintain an apartment in Dublin, Europe and Florida. My great-great grandfather was Samuel Robinson who was born in Dromore in 1832 and married his wife Elizabeth. They immigrated to New York/New Jersey in 1850. Samuel's parents were James Robinson, who was born in Dromore in 1801 and his wife Jane Robinson (Kilpatrick) was born in Antrim around the same time. I used Ancestry.com to find out the information
We have visited Dromore once and plan on making many more trips. I would very much like to meet with Ms. Golden to find relatives I may have there.
Using Ancestry.com I was able to find the German side of my family and they gave us a very warm welcome and I hoping for the same in Dromore. Ray Pfeiffer

Hi Ray,
Unfortunately, I don't live in Dromore. I'm across the big pond in GA. Sorry! Is there any kind of assistance I can offer otherwise? I've posted, behind the tabs, a lot of different places to look online to gather more information. As for finding current family, you may try looking in the British Telecom Directory http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/search/residential/search.publisha
On a side note, I too have Pfeiffer ancestors from Germany! John Pfeiffer, b. 1836 Darmstadt, Hesse, m. 1860 Christina Becker Walther Cumberland, MD, d. 1907 Oakland, MD. John is my step 2nd ggf. Wouldn't it be great if we share the same line?
I look forward to reading of your success.
Every good wish!
Beth

Beth, Thanks so much for replying and please excuse the thought that you were actually in Dromore! Have you been to Dromore? If not I can send you photos from our visit there. So what exactly is your role?
Strange also that you also have a Pfeiffer in your family! My family is from Fleischwangen which is Baden-Wurtenburg. We received a wonderful reception from the town. My great-great grandfather left there in 1852 and no one had remembered him until I introduced the evidence. A member of the family then did a lot of research and we learned the entire history. The biggest suprise is that my family was Roman Catholic. I had grown up, the only Protestant kid in all Catholic neighborhood and I was shocked to hear that the family had been Catholic. It was because of Irish family from Dromore that I was raised Presbyterian.
My cell is 813 966 6727 if you would like to talk. Cristy and I will be in Dromore in December. Ray

Hi Ray,
No problem thinking that I was in Dromore. When I first accessed the Dromore page here on Ireland XO, it was pretty much blank. Being disappointed with the lack of information, I offered to be the Parish Liaison until someone actually in Dromore could be found. As the Liaison, I was able to add a few things to the Dromore section - a way to pay it forward for all the wonderful assistance I've received over the years working on my genealogy. Unfortunately, I've never been to Dromore but dream about being there someday. I'm sure that you and your wife will have much fun and hope that you're able to connect with cousins. I would love to see some pix! Thanks for offering! I believe that there is a way to email me directly rather than using this message board, by going to my profile.
I, too, had a great experience with obtaining ancestral records in Germany for Christina Becker's family in Staufenberg, Hesse and all done online through a gracious person living there. As for our Pfeiffers, I preliminarily have John's parents as Johann Frederich Pfeiffer and Gustinna Ammenhauser. I've no real documentation (yet) that this is correct and have my doubts as they were born in Wurtenberg. Yep, same as yours! Also, now that you've told me that they were Roman Catholic, I have further doubts. John and Christina were married in the Lutheran Church. So the hunt continues ;)
Thanks for your #. However you may want to edit your post and remove it to maintain a bit of privacy. I have it saved in my computer now.
Every good wish,
Beth
